Navigating The Fear of Being Seen 👀
It might sound odd, but I find this particular pattern of human behavior so interesting. One can simultaneously exist + fear the acknowledgment of their existence. Brains are very curious creatures.
My brain, was taught this pattern from a young age. Being seen came with contempt, rejection, shame, judgement, abuse. And so, out of love, my body rewired me to act in ways that avoid being perceived.
This can look like, suppressing your opinions, keeping your body language small, avoiding all types of attention even positive.
The good news is, this is nothing more than a self-protective habit. Which means that regardless of your story or history you can unlearn this fear. I am proof!
